A case of mistaken identity entangles a young man in a murder plot involving a mafia crime boss. The film opens with a young man named Slevin who's taken up temporary residence at his friend Nick's apartment in New York City. Nick has gone missing, as Slevin soon learns from across-the-hall neighbor Lindsey, who wants to help and play amateur detective. Things get dicey when two thugs show up and mistake Slevin for Nick. They drag him before the Boss, who informs him that he's got three days to pay $96,000.
